Virtualization is the making of duplicate version of an operating system, a storage device or a server, where the basic system divides the resource into one or more execution. For example: The partition of hard drive is meant to be a virtualization because it can be partitioned to create two separate hard drives.
TYPES OF VIRTUALIZATION:
The major three types of virtualization are
- Network Virtualization,
- Storage Virtualization,
- Server Virtualization.
a) Network Virtualization:
Network Virtualization is the process of separating the available bandwidth into channels, with the help of combining the available device in a network. Network Virtualization is done on purpose in performing the effective use in network speed, adaptability, and security. They are very effective in networks that create sudden, large and unforeseen surges in usage. Every user has the ability to share all the resources on the network in a single computer.
b) Storage Virtualization:
Storage Virtualization is the unit of multiple network storage devices but it appears to be the single storage unit. Storage Virtualization is frequently used in Storage Area Networks (SANs). The SAN has the shared storage devices with high speed subnetwork, and performs many operations like archiving, backup, and regain easier and faster. They are mainly used in software applications.
c) Server Virtualization:
Server Virtualization is the coverage of resources present in the server, such as identifying the characteristics of physical servers of other server users. It has three popular techniques: the virtual machine model, the paravirtual machine model, and operating system Virtualization. One physical server can be divided into multiple isolated duplicate circumstances with the use of software applications. ADVANTAGES:
